Presentation Description:
The Police Orientation Preparation Program, POPP, is the capstone of the Police Academy Magnet Schools Program which includes grades six through 12. POPP starts a new cohort each fall consisting of 35 high school seniors and 25 high school grads all of whom have been vetted to ensure they are qualified to become police officers. The POPP students take 20 college classes at the LAPD main training academy over a two-year period leading to a CTE A.A. degree and a direct pipeline to employment with the LAPD as police officers. High school seniors who attend during their senior year will earn both their high school diploma and 30 college units as concurrent students.
